As a bonus, signing up for streaming services and cutting the cord on your cable will save you even more money.

Light some candles and pour you and your partner some wine to put a romantic spin on your movie night.

Cook dinner together

Take a walk in the park or go hiking

A walk in a park is a great free date idea

Do you and your partner love the outdoors? If you have access to picturesque scenes of nature, take advantage of it! Consider taking a walk in a local park or going on an easy hike. It’s healthy (and often free) to enjoy nature and there’s nothing more romantic than a scenic lookout point. Take your outdoor date excursion over the top by turning it into a picnic.

Have a board game night

Looking for some wholesome fun? Not all romantic dates at home need to put so much emphasis on the romance. A fun two player board game could be just the type of date night you’re looking for. Look for Free Community Events

You don’t always need to be the one to come up with creative date ideas. Let your community dictate your date night for you! Find out what recreational events, community festivals, and fundraisers are going on in your neighbourhood. You should be able to find this information on your city’s website or social media platforms. These events are often free, and it takes the work of planning your evening out of your hands. Many community events such as fairs and festivals are completely free, even if they try to up-sell you on some expensive merchandise at the event. Depending on your interests and your hobbies, there may be a lot of different things you can do locally.

Get creative for your date night

Painting is a fun cheap date night idea

As your lives get busier and busier, it may be harder and harder for you and your partner to find the time for a fun date night out. The same can often be said for your creative side. If you haven’t had time for date night, would you really have time paint, draw, or express your creative side?

Scratch both these things of your to-do list by setting aside some time with your partner to flex your creative muscles! Get your hands on an adult colouring book or find some free pictures online that you can print off and colour in.

If you have the supplies for it, break out your paint brushes and follow along with a Bob Ross video for a painting night!

Enjoy your surroundings on a scenic drive

Maybe hiking isn’t your favourite activity, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still ways to enjoy the outdoors. Depending on the season, you may be able to enjoy the beauty of nature from the comfort of your car by taking a scenic drive. If it’s autumn, look for an area that’s lit up by the changing color of the leaves. If it’s spring or summer and you’re lucky enough to live near the water, go for a drive along the coast.
