June 20th is the first day of summer and you may be wondering what you can do for fun on a budget. You don’t need a lot of money to fully enjoy summer and take part in fun activities. There are many low cost, or even free activities that can be done when on a tight budget.  Read below for some budget-friendly ideas.

Go to a free music festival

There are a number of free or low-cost concerts and music festivals happening in different cities during the summer. Anyone can attend these concerts and it is a great way to save money and enjoy some time with friends. There is also the option to take a road trip to a beach or lake. There are a number of beautiful public places that you can explore with friends and family – pack a basket for a low-cost picnic while you’re there!

Rent a bike and go for a ride

Bike riding is one of those activities that brings people together. If you don’t own a bike, you may be able to find a low-cost bike rental provided by your city or a bike rental company. This allows you to bike with your family and friends and have a lot of fun without having to spend an exorbitant amount of money.

Hiking is another great way for families to spend their summer days together when on a strict budget. Challenging, cost-effective and healthy, hiking is a great way to spend some time outdoors. Remember to stay hydrated!
